...quick pet peeve. The phrase is:
"If you think (x), then you have another think coming!"
It is not:
"If you think (x), you have another thing coming."
You see that a LOT, and it's rather annoying.
Just a public service announcement. |

...As I was out walking today, Martika's "Toy Soldiers" started playing on my Nano. It's a song I quite enjoy, but today when she sung "And the battle wages on for the Toy Soldiers" my mind started to wonder.
Can a battle wage on like that? See, given the song material and phrasing, I'd think that the battle would rage on. I know that one can wage war, or have war waged against onesself, but can war itself wage on?
I imagine that it's grammatically right, but the lyrical side of me would rather see "rage on" there.
Yes, these are the things that go on in my mind. |

...It's been a few since I've updated. So let's see what's going on.
I work Sun-Wed the next few weeks. I don't mind this because A)I get 3 days in a row off, and B)I knew about this about a month ago. When the "overall possible schedule" came out, she sat me and the other shipper down, and told us that Xmas and NYE would roughly look like this. I haven't liked working the last 3 Sundays because I have found out on Thursday I am working Sunday.
I went out and bought Meg's christmas present today. I drove quite a bit. I'm both proud and a little ashamed. I got to the place I needed to buy Meg's present, but in the process, managed to un-nerve myself somewhat. It was a LOT of stop and go style driving to get there. I was going to go to the mall after and get a gift for a friend, but just came home instead. I also had a major stall in front of an 18-wheeler. I could not get the car restarted, until the light flipped back to yellow. I got the car going and inched up. But he didn't honk or anything. I think he may have understood the problem.
~~~ I've been playing a lot of Dragon Age lately. I created a character for each Origin story, and identified with them pretty quickly, making up a little backstory in my head for how I intended to play them.
I have Mirajj, a human female noble warrior. I've beaten the game with her already. She took the death of her parents hard, but decided that she'd take up the cause of defending the country and desposing the man involved. She got her revenge, and saved the country as well.
Daylen is my human male mage. He never quite fit in at the Circle, and started chafing under their strict rule. He's out in the 'big world' now, full of cocky attitude, but with plenty of firepower to back it up.
Lyna is my female Dalish Elf. Quick and nimble, but naive, she's gone to help the Grey Wardens. It's a big world, and she's a bit scared, but she can handle her twin blades with great skill, so she's not TOO worried.
Kallian is my female City Elf. She was always a bit cold, but having had her best friend raped on Kallian's wedding day, as well as seeing her husband-to-be killed, she's become a vicious killer with little tolerance for people in general and humans in particular.
Sereda's my female Dwarf Noble. After being framed by her younger brother for the murder of her elder brother, she has forsworn her past. She feels she's disgraced the sword and shield she used to use as weapons. She got her hands on a two handed sword, and it 'felt' right. Along with the rage building inside of her, she's finding new purpose with the Grey Wardens.
Faren is a dwarf commoner rogue. Cocky and self assured, he's got the fighting ability to back it up. He's got a soft spot for his sister, but having been forced to the surface world, he'll make do the best he can with these oddball "humans". |
